Bruins-Flyers highlights a busy Thursday night
Two teams fighting for playoff security will collide on Thursday night, as the Boston Bruins face the Philadelphia Flyers in a rematch of the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.
Two teams fighting for playoff security will collide on Thursday night, as the Boston Bruins face the Philadelphia Flyers in a rematch of the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.

The teams haven't faced each other since Jan. 1, when the Bruins topped the Flyers 2-1 in overtime in a game played at Fenway Park.

Opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET at the Wachovia Center, where the Flyers disposed of the New York Islanders by a 3-2 score on Tuesday night. Boston, now 29-24-12 after a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Tuesday, is three points ahead of the New York Rangers for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Flyers (35-26-4) currently reside in sixth.

Also at 7, the Tampa Bay Lightning look to end a four-game road losing streak as they take on the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. Tampa Bay is five points out of a playoff spot. Other games with 7 p.m. start times include St. Louis at the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh at Carolina, Atlanta at Columbus and Edmonton at Montreal (RDS in Canada).

Thirty minutes later, the Detroit Red Wings continue their playoff push as they host the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit (31-23-12) trails Calgary by one point for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference after losing 4-2 to the Flames on Tuesday. Minnesota is coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to Florida. The game can be seen in the U.S. on the NHL Network.

Two games begin in the 9 o'clock hour -- the Colorado Avalanche host the Panthers at the Pepsi Center at 9 p.m. ET, while the Flames battle the Ottawa Senators at the Pengrowth Saddledome at 9:30.

In the final game of the night, the San Jose Sharks host the Nashville Predators at HP Pavilion at 10:30 p.m. ET. Todd McLellan's club is 21-6-7 on home ice and has been off since a 2-1 win over Columbus on Saturday. Nashville headed West after winning 2-1 at Atlanta on Tuesday.
